Vivo X30 With Dual-Mode 5G, Coming Next Month

Vivo has announced plans to launch a 5G-enabled dual-mode smartphone next month, following its sister company Oppo, which announced plans this past week. At a press conference in Beijing on Thursday, the Chinese smartphone giant announced that the Vivo X30 will be equipped with the Samsung Exynos 980 SoC with an integrated dual-mode 5G modem (SA + NSA). While the company did not say it in so many words, there are rumors that the device could also be equipped with a “pro” version with slightly better hardware.

Rumor has it that the Vivo X30 will feature –

  • 6.5-inch 90-Hz AMOLED display,
  • Up to 8GB of RAM,
  • Up to 256GB of memory,
  • And a rear-mounted quad-cam setup that will run from a 64-inch display Megapixel shooter is controlled.

The Vivo X30 Pro variant will feature a larger 6.89-inch 90-Hz AMOLED display, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a triple rear camera configuration with a 60-megapixel sensor. Note that the above rumors still need to be officially confirmed. So take them with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Introduced as Samsung’s first 5G integrated mobile processor in September, the Exynos 980 is based on the 8nm FinFET process and is being advertised as the company’s first Artificial Intelligence Mobile (AI) processor with a built-in 5G modem, the Gigabit Downlink speed in 4G features LTE and up to 2.55 Gbps at 5 GHz below 6 GHz. Although, the Vivo X30 launch date not confirmed yet.

In addition to the dual-mode 5G modem, the Exynos 980 has an octa-core CPU consisting of two Cortex-A77 high-performance cores and six low-power Cortex-A55 cores. The processor is also equipped with the ARM Mali G76 GPU. Also, the on-chip neural processor unit (NPU), which offers up to 2.7 times faster performance compared to its predecessor, according to the company.

With 5G expected to offer relatively more mainstream products next year, most smartphone vendors are ready to offer the latest mobile phone technology, not just in the premium sector, but also in the mid-range. With that in mind, chipmakers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek have announced plans to launch SoCs with midrange 5G embedded technology next year.
