New WhatsApp Update: Here’s how you can block contacts from adding you to groups

WhatsApp has already released a number of new features for iOS and Android users in recent months. One such feature that WhatsApp released in early April was a privacy feature that prevented it from being added to random groups. WhatsApp has just released another new feature in the recent ‘New Whatsapp Update’ called “Blacklist” that makes WhatsApp more private for you.

This feature was first discovered by WABetaInfo, a popular site that provides updates on the latest WhatsApp changes, according to the Mashable.com. WhatsApp now appears to add a new “My Contacts Except” option for groups. Typically, WhatsApp users can choose from the Everyone, My Contacts, and None options to join groups in the app.

As part of this new update, WhatsApp will replace “nobody” with “My Contacts Except”, and users will have to manually select people whose group additions they want to block. All blacklisted users would have to send a group invitation instead. To use this feature, go to Settings, select Account> Privacy and then Groups. By default, you are set to all users that you can then change in the account settings. It also introduced the feature for both Android and iOS users. If you want to try this feature, you can join the WhatsApp beta program.

There is no information on when this feature will be officially launched, but it is expected to be available soon. Other two WhatsApp features users are waiting for are the dark mode and the disappearance / self-destruction of messages.
