Google Maps Now Shows You Warnings About Violent Incidents

Google is taking every possible step to make the Google Maps platform more useful and inventive for its users. The platform has recently received support for reporting violent incidents so you can play it safe.

The feature was discovered by a Reddit user while browsing the maps. As you can see in the following image, Google Maps marks the location of the violent incident on the map.

I tried to verify the claim and saw the same thing on my phone. It will show you a warning along with the last update of the information. In addition to the warning, the “About” section displays a small context for the incident. The context, in this case, comes from reliable news agencies like Reuters.

You can also get the latest updates by tapping the “See latest updates” button. The app then redirects you to the Google search results page, where you can learn more about the incident.

If you are in the reported incident area, you can help other users by reporting roadblocks using the Report Roadblocks button. In my opinion, this feature is very useful and can sometimes be life-saving, especially if you are a tourist.

In the meantime, a few more new features(look below) have been added to the Google Maps platform. We do not know if this feature is available only in the UK or around the world. Let us know if you have found a similar warning in the comments in your country or not.

3 New Google Maps Features You Should Know

Google continues to enhance Google Maps, one of the most popular map apps on Android and iOS platforms, by adding new features that help users do their jobs efficiently and smoothly. Today, let’s take a look at three new features that the software giant recently launched on Google Maps.

1. Follow Local Guides

Finding good restaurants right after moving or visiting a new city can be quite tedious. Well, Google has introduced a new feature that allows users to follow their local favorite guides for some expert advice. The local guides will appear on the “For You” tab of Google Maps.

As of now, the feature is limited to nine cities, namely Bangkok, Delhi, London, Mexico City, New York, Osaka, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, and Tokyo. However, Google will hopefully extend the feature to other cities in the near future.

2. Place Name Pronunciation

Google knows how difficult it can be to visit a brand new location. Sometimes it’s difficult to pronounce place names, and Google wants to help you learn the pronunciations with a new feature that pronounces the place name with the correct pronunciation based on your phone’s default language.

This feature can be very useful in situations where you need to explain the goal of a taxi driver.

3. Edit Google Maps Profile

Google has finally made it possible to edit the public Google Maps profile in the Google Maps app. Tap on the Hamburger menu in the upper left corner of the app and select “your profile“.

On the “Your profile” page, navigate to the “Edit profile”. Here you can make the necessary changes, as you can see in the picture above. The feature was limited to Android on the launch, but is now available for both Android and iOS.
