Google Maps Finally Lets Users Edit Their Public Profiles via the App

With the goal of providing better control over what other people see when they look at your page, Google Maps has released an update that lets you take control of your public profiles and update your profile picture and biography. The search engine giant so far had not allowed users to manage their public profile through the app.

In the new update of Google Maps the new tab My Profile giving you more control over public profiles, how others see your posts in maps, Android Police reported on Saturday by pointing to a new Google support page. “Google introduces the ability to edit and manage your public profile on Google Maps. Previously, you could only review your Local Guides points if you were part of the program, but you did not edit your name or biography.” My profile “gives you more control over how others see your posts on Google Maps,” the report said.

Previously, users could essentially select their “Your Posts” option in the app’s sidebar to retrieve their local guide information if they participated, and then choose “View Public Profile” from the triple-point menu. This only indicated their name, profile picture, ratings, and ratings.

The new profile page will be made available to Google Maps users on the server-side, but it will not hurt to use the latest version (10.29.1 on APK Mirror) to display them. We also expect a change on the Contributions tab that will completely remove the old UI in favor of the new UI, which has been in beta for several months, the report added.
